Collected from tribals of Mandla, Madhya Pradesh.  Mandla is a tribal district situated in the east-central part of Madhaya Pradesh. The district lies entirely in the catchment of river Narmada & its tributaries.   Tribal population dominates the district. Main sub castes of tribals are Baiga, Gond, Kol & Pradhan. Majority of them is depending on forest for their livelihood.  The world's famous Tiger Sanctuary, Kanha National Park located in the district, is one of the hottest targets for both the domestic as well as foreign tourists. 

 Mandla is the hub of production of the Kodo and Kutki Millet which has also been identified as the One District One Product (ODOP) under the Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro food processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme launched by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Government of India.
